DENTAL ASSISTANT/CHAIRSIDE I

Course Description:

The CTE/ROP Dental Assistant / Chairside I course is designed to prepare students for an entry-level position in a dental office. Students will learn how to prepare the patient, sterilize and disinfect instruments, setup instrument trays, and prepare the materials that will be needed by the dentist during the examination. In addition, students will learn theory and clinical application in dental radiographic, in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the California Board of Dental Examiners. A uniform is required. Students successfully completing this course will advance to the Dental Assistant/Chairside II course where they will be assigned at a community classroom (internship) site to gain actual experience in the dental field.

Dental Assistant / Chairside II

Course Description:

Dental Assistant / Chairside II is a community classroom internship course where students will gain actual experience in the dental field by assisting a dentist. Students will prepare patients, sterilize and disinfect instruments, set up instrument trays, prepare materials and assist the dentist during dental procedures. A uniform is required. Additionally, students will practice theory and clinical applications in dental radiographics in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the California Board of Dental Examiners. Students completing this program will be qualified to be employed in the dental field or may enroll in higher education for advanced training.
